Serious audio clipping... I know the song is called bass overload, but I'm sure what you wanted was bass in the sub frequency to be overpowering instead of the audio clipping and peaking that occurs. It's very cool otherwise, but the melody gets a little repetitive. The drums are pretty tight though, they sound good, the could do with some fx. Nice panning too. Thus ends my constructive criticism

im gonna lower the bass or something, the reason its clipping is because i cant listen to it on good speakers while im making it, and to do so i have to burn it. therefore i have to guess at the bass since i cant really hear it, however i did compress it so i dont think its THAT bad..

Let me start off with the fact that this track is superbly produced. You crafted one dark, tasty melody there, the synths and fx were very well placed. The beats are awesome, however a little too in your face and loud, also snare is a bit too reverby like rucklo said. I definitely see people exploding and dying to this in some flash very very soon. Nice work!

Yeah the verb, and the bass are a bit much. I tried heh. Exploding to use it in flash, not sure about that. I hope that it will get used, but if it dosent...I'll just cry in the corner. Thanks for the support!

Nice man, using the fl studio sounds. You somehow managed to make them sound pretty decent, and the rest of the song is pretty good too! I like the dancier parts of it, and there is some I could do without, some toward the beginning but you are experimenting, and like rucklo told me when I experimented for a while, you can get away with murder 1 while experimenting. Nice work dude! Check out my new song Fleets if you don't mind, I got another one in the works and it's gonna be totally in Reason, I'm finally migrating away from FL studio. Anyway, again good work!

I've been missing in action for a bit, but I think I'm back now. Filming is demanding, and so is school work and girls and stuff. But hey, gotta make time for my favorite hobbies, and music is one of them. Anyway, kicking off my return with a review of your great song!
This song is really cool because the vibe is feeding, energy really bounces from this song! I can definitely see people dancing to this in a club, and it sounds great for having come out of FL studio. I can tell that is's fruity, but that's because I've used it for so long. I hope people can't tell right off the bat that I use FL studio, but thats also because I use reason as a re-wire client with it. Anyway, I was thinking that you should get into Reason too. Reason is a great program, not as user friendly, and dare I say it? not as intuitive as FL studio. However, the quality of everything in Reason far surpasses that of FL studio. I think that you with Reason would be unstoppable. You have all these really great trance and dance melodies brewing in your head. Good work man, and congrats on getting number 4 on the top 5!

Wow... That is one impressive review indeed :) Yeah, I was thinking about buying reason (hey, I don't download ;), but I dunno... I've been using Fruity foor quite some time now (even making a tutorial about it!) and I think it would be quite a... "shock" to go to Reason all of the sudden :) But I guess I'll give it a try. Thanks for the superb review and keep making that sweeeeeeet music man!

Well first thing I have to say is that the mix ain't great. The levels weren't paid any attention, it seems to me. Everything is just as loud as the other synths, and it hurt me a wee bit until I turned it down. Some equalizations are in order :) Otherwise, everything else about this song is great, and very original! I love that melody, it's really cool! I can tell that you used JasonC's songs as a template, and I totally understand that. However, if it can remind a person of it that much, perhaps you should think about tweaking the instruments some more before you publish the song on Newgrounds. Remember, you are submitting songs to be listened to by a whole shitload of people, you wanna put something out there that is totally your own, and sounds great, at least on a technical level. Equalize the shit out of your drums, make sure the snares and hats are sharp and clear, the bass is punchy and bassy enough to be heard. Basslines should'nt really dominate over melodies, and so on and so on. I hope I don't sound like an old person condescending a youngster, because that's not what I'm trying to do. I really do like your song, I'm just pointing out what I find to be flaws in the song. Also, I agree with Third_Nut about the melody thing. A song over 3 minutes should, and I stress the should, have at least 2 melodies, but it's not always required. If you automate it enough so that it sounds new and refreshing each time you hear it, that's cool too. Anyway, I hope that I helped people that read this in some way, and I hope you keep making tunes bud, perhaps in the not to distant future you wouldn't mind collabing on a song with me :-)

I enjoyed this piece because I'm a huge fan of string work. Everything sounded great, the synths sound like FF7 instruments. Quite a moving piece, I'd say.

This is an old midi-conversion, which is why it sounds ff7ish. I did it up in reason but i'm not sure if i posted it. think i did though.

I enjoyed this loop alot, it really sounds great, the melody is very smooth and catchy, infectious even! Very nice work, the only problem is that ultra simple drum part. Otherwise, it's great!

A very catchy song! This one sounds real nice, haha the only thing is it is a bit loud toward the end, but otherwise it sounds great and I love the melody! Very interesting melody in this one. Originality is what you were going for, well you got it my friend! As for trance... hmm this is pretty trippy stuff, I wouldn't recommend this for the poppy listener but I definitely was able to enjoy it. As far as the glitchyness, I don't really hear it that much. The synths are very interesting as well... I haven't worked with those yet. I love your drum beats, those are bangin and the bass drum smacks real hard, feels good coming out of my headphones. Very well produced, good job man, I might just go and make a remix of this if you don't mind :)

Maybe this isn´t pure trance, but I think it has a trance-ish feel to it.
About the glitchyness, there are no in this song really. I was experimenting with some classic glitchy stuff I´m using in many of my other songs, but I just didn´t get it right this time, so I skipped it.
Really glad U liked the beat, I think u need good speakers or headphones to be able to hear the fully potential of the bass drum. Really glad U enjoyed the song, despite it´s "originality" :D

If you haven't seen any of Chris Cunningham's work, look for the music videos of Aphex Twin's "Window Licker" or "Come to Daddy" or Bjork's "All is full of love". Those videos kick ass and so do those songs, and so does this song. Great work man, excellent I might say. I hope we share the Audio Portal awards this week :)
