Well howdy-dooden

Nice pumpin kick :)

Nice layering of melodies and background, however it feels very, fruityloopish... I hate saying that because I use FL 5 as well but yea just my two cents on that. I don't use any vsti's or soundfonts either, just what FL comes with, so it's especially noticeable to me, I create all my sounds from scratch most of the time on either the 3xOSC or Sytrus, and I always take special care to make all my synths sound different from the stuff in the cool stuff folder. But anyway, this song is still great, nice automation panning and volume crescendoing, it works really great in creating a good atmosphere.

im using a synthiszer called
'D'cota' its a really powerful synth...
then i have a customized sim-synth in the arp.
the bassline is d'cota.
the counter melody triplet part is sytrus, and the square lead and the cheese lead are 3xOsc.
what probably gave away the fruit feel of the song was the cheap drum samples that i always use to give the song a techno feel >:D

thanks for the review.

pretty damn cool but....

It's missing one thing that I especially love... the BASS!!!!

This song needs a pulse pounding, throbbing bassline to go with those great sounding synths and drums. I realize you have a bass in there, but it's much to soft, or soft-clipped at around 0-500hz frequency... Perhaps to avoid peaking? This song was lacking in the lower end of the frequency spectrum, otherwise this song would have gotten a 10 from me.

PERVOK responds:

there WAS a powerful pounding bass...

at least it seemed to me anyways.
bass is really changed to you when you have 2 12 inch subs k?
i thought that bass was hard enough.

Intro arp is sweet

I immediately noticed how crisp the drums sound, and how the bass drum pounds hard, and never peaks. Thank god, someone else on NG who knows how to master their music!

Very original melody, and very cool chord progression, but it fades so quickly and then the song ends. It's not bad, but you should make like a part B in the song, like a chorus, and a second verse that's different but in the same key, things like that. It gets a bit repetitive on the second listen, this is why I mention it. Anyway, still the production on it is top notch and I have to admire that. Good job/

Nice work!

This song is pretty cool, a few little mistakes that I caught here and there, in the beginning when you are rolling claps, it's a little off at some points... as if you were hitting in between the 3 and 4... it just sounded off. Other than that, yea like third_nut said, the simple melodies that no one has used is pretty catchy simple and effective, but I think the coolest thing is your rhythm syncopation with that melody... it really gives it a dynamic that would otherwise have left it boring and uninspired. You've made a great dance/rave track here, and you could do well with it, but I feel like maybe you could make better trance than this. The fade out too was a little disapointing.

Excellent

Excellent, and I mean excellent synths used in this, I need to get my hands on the vsts you use. The melodies and chords are beautiful, everything rocks pretty hard in this song man. Great job, the harmony is one of the prettiest I've heard yet, and the drum fill after about 2 minutes, damn that was unexpected and freakin' sweet. Again, great job, hopefully soon I'll be back and trying to compete, in futility might I add, with your music, hehe.

Well

I think when you raise the pitch to match the key change, it doesn't sound the greatest. Also, sounds like your strings are messed up, or you have the treble up way too high, and when you play the interlude part it's not in time with the rest of the song. Just my critique of the song, which isn't a bad one at all. Just a bit of sloppiness on the bass

very soft and smooth

I definitely liked the acoustic bass... sounded pretty good with the softness of the rest of the song. Seldom Rock It, though the title implies it's not going to rock, I was expecting it to be tough. However this was an anti-climax to hear, and so soothing to the ears. It's really refreshing to hear something like this in the Audio Portal because everything else one would hear is going to be some rough dnb or hardcore techno or trance... this is a great break from that kind of stuff. Good work with creating the serene mood that permeates this, like I said you are awesome hehe

RyeGuyHead responds:

I know what your saying. Actually the title comes from seldom rocket, which I thought sounded very cool....but that title unfortunatly makes no sense... So seldmo rock it means i barely ever do hard rouugh dnb...like you said.

lol

Dude, this song cracks me up every time I hear it... The offkey guitar is perfect, it creates the dissonance that this song so sorely needed...

lol

:) thank you sir.

Well I'll be damned

It started off a little... iffy for me. However, I quickly changed my mind as the song progressed, the melody though repetitive is quite cool, and the bassline is pretty sweet, though with a better bass synth it would have been pretty damn sweet through my headphones(which are pretty good ones). I like the break and second half of the song is pretty powerful, I liked it alot man! I have to say though, that this reminded me a whole lot of this video game I used to play on NES called Bionic Commando. The melody is very reminiscent to me. Anyway, great job on this!

P.S. I saw your advertisement on the audio BBS, and read about you being desperate. Hehe, I know exactly how you feel man, because I'm quite desperate to get people to listen to my music as well. I feel that I get overlooked by people on the audio portal, because my songs get their scores lowered pretty badly by zero voters, and I recently haven't been getting as many consistent reviews as I have in the past. But hey man, I'm going to watch you, and I'll try my best to review as many of your songs as I possibly can, you've earned a new fan with this song! If you don't mind listening to my songs, you will more than have returned the favor. Good work again man!

PERVOK responds:

thanx man, but if yer wondering, the reason i made that is becasue i was apologizing to the ppl that got mad and stopped looking at my tunes cause i said im leaving newgrounds.
i ain't leavin newgroudns anymore man, ill check out yer tunes!

Wow!

That was like some fuckin System of a Down shit for a while, then the piano came in and ruined the mood that was created before. HOWEVER, I think that musically it's very jarring and hard for the listener to swallow, which makes me like it sooo much more! Very cool progression on the piano also. What an intro! It kicks your ass, in such a good way. Great job man!
